Forbes Scholarship Fund

The Monsignor Forbes Scholarship Fund was created by the Board of Jolt Credit Union in 1982 to honor Msgr. Eugene A. Forbes for his long years of service to the Credit Union and for his devotion to students and education. The Fund is directed by a five-person Board of Trustees which meets regularly to oversee its operation.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be a member of the credit union with a primary account in your own name
  • Must be attending an accredited college, university, or other institution of  higher learning during the next academic year
  • Must have a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 2.5
  • Financial need


HOW TO APPLY:  Read all instructions completely and thoroughly.

  • A copy of your most recent unofficial transcripts showing current cumulative GPA.
  • A 1-page essay describing yourself, career goals, how you plan to achieve these goals, financial hardships, etc.
  • Parents/Guardian’s most recent IRS tax return: first 2 pages of 1040 only
    (This applies if your parents claim you or you live at home). If your parent’s income has had a considerable change from the prior year, please note that within your personal essay.
  • Student’s most recent IRS tax return (If applicable). If your income has had a considerable change from the prior year, please note this within your personal essay.
  • Your signed application

 

AWARD PROCESS:
The trustees will review each scholarship application packet individually and grant awards regardless of sex, race, color, national origin or ancestry, age, handicap, or marital status.

Notification of awards will be mailed by the end of May 2017.

Scholarship checks will be mailed directly to the educational institution you have identified on your application.  

Please note that any funds you receive through this scholarship application process are awarded to the educational institution (college) you have identified on your application. These funds are awarded to you, the student, during the current academic school year and will be used by the college to cover costs associated with tuition, books and fees. If you receive additional scholarship awards during the same academic school year from another institution/organization, it is the discretion of the college that received the funds what order these scholarship funds are applied.  If there is an excess of funds received the college will return any unused portion to the credit union.
